Cafe Scene in the Afternoon

Lucas comes from a broken home. As he moves to college, he has to break up with the one person in his life who’d care if he stayed. It breaks his heart but he has to break hers.
This was my first short ever, with my best friend Taylor nonetheless. We were filming in a cafe in Queens. To get to set, I took the M60 bus which has a view of the Manhattan skyline as it crosses the bridge. I was a freshman, doing my first short film, admiring Manhattan’s skyline…and doing it all with a best friend. The whole thing felt very romantic.
In the short film, we broke up though. Not so romantic.
